Dedicated to the memory of Vassiliki Chrysostomou

Mum passed away on 15th March 2024 at the age of 95.

She is and always will be much-loved and much-missed.

A lot of mum's adult life was spent under the care of Moorefields St Georges.  In her latter years she was looked after by her wonderful consultant Mr Romesh Angunawela. He never gave up and battled to give her the quality of life she deserved by trying to restore some eyesight in her only seeing eye.  At end of 2022 mum had a new cornea and for 8 months could see her flowers, faces of her grandchildren and was abe to read (the greatest gift of all for her).

Sadly after 8 months she started losing her vision again and needed a repair with new donor cells. The first check-up post repair happened on the day she died and was very positive. It looked like she would regain that vision. On way to her appointment she remarked on the beautiful pink colour of her camelia in her front garden which was in full bloom. I am grateful for that positive day.

Any donations to Moorefields Eye Charity would be gratefully appreciated so that the gift of 'light' can be given to anyone no matter their age.

Many many thanks

Maria
